PRESS RELEASE

Refresh Awards Boost Recognition for Local Businesses

Pasco, WA – June 27, 2008 - Imageworks and Vivid Learning Systems delivered the first annual Refresh Awards to three local businesses on Thursday, June 26, 2008 in Pasco. The Refresh Awards honored businesses with a compelling story and purpose, and would benefit from effective marketing and communication tools. Enter Imageworks and Vivid Learning Systems. The awards provide expertise in the form of web design, photography and print advertising to these businesses most in need of a Refresh.

With three objectives in mind Imageworks and Vivid Learning Systems wanted to provide greater value to the community beyond typical business activities.

  • Community Stewardship
  • Business Collaboration and Learning
  • Celebrating Success

The community was encouraged to participate by nominating outstanding businesses in need of an online make-over or refresh. An independent board of experts representing the fields of marketing, business and academia identified the “top 11” nominees, allowing a judging panel of business leaders to select the top 3 winners.

Congratulations to the top three for 2008:

1. YMCA Tri-Cities – As the winner, received $5,000
towards a web makeover

2. Moore Mansion – As the first runner up, received
half day of photography or print ad design

3. Benton Franklin Humane Society - As the second
runner up, received half day of photography or print ad design

“We realized we needed a new website but the cost was prohibitive.
$5,000 goes a long way toward fulfilling our mission and in providing scholarships for kids using YMCA programs. An updated website will enhance and help expand our programs by providing up-to-date information and registration forms for families looking for the YMCA of the Greater Tri-Cities. As our fee-for-service programs grow even further, so will our ability to provide additional scholarships to ensure that no child is ever turned away from any YMCA program due to inability to pay” said Michelle Rankin, Marketing Director, YMCA of the Greater Tri-Cities.

“…I wanted to thank you for the invite, and tell you how much I enjoyed meeting the talented, energetic professionals that attended Refresh '08.
This is what I've always wanted to see the Tri-Cities express since moving here 18 years ago…” said Jim A. Wise, Ph.D., Coordinator, Mid-Columbia Sustainable Business Network, one of the top 11 nominees.

“We want to thank everyone that traveled from across the country and we are grateful to our patrons, partners, associates and friends that were able to attend. Refresh ‘08 would not have been the same without all of their support. I am really excited to see the positive impact these marketing/communication resources will have on these three deserving businesses,” said Matt Hammer, CEO, Vivid Learning Systems.
