Vivid Assists with Training Records Increase at HAMMER

February 16, 2010 – The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has stimulated additional cleanup work at the United States Department of Energy Hanford Site, resulting in a significant increase in the number of people employed.  New workers must attend a rigorous Site training program as part of their on-boarding process.

The substantial rise in the number of people being trained has caused a concomitant climb in the amount of training records generated.  Vivid has stepped in by supplying two individuals focused specifically on management of the extra training record workload.

About HAMMER
HAMMER (HAzardous Materials Management and Emergency Response) began in 1986 as a community-based initiative to improve training for hazardous materials workers, emergency responders and fire fighters. Tri-County Fire commissioners, the Benton-Franklin Regional Council, and local labor councils developed the concept.

In 1994, Congress appropriated funds to begin operations in a temporary facility and initiate construction of the HAMMER Training Center. Upon completion of construction in September 1997, HAMMER was officially dedicated the Volpentest HAMMER Training and Education Center in honor of Sam Volpentest, a founding member and community leader.
